My skin has never been “perfect.” I’ve dealt with acne and texture since middle school, and I’ve tried countless products ranging from over-the-counter to drugstore. However, I used to give up on a product after testing it out for only a couple of weeks (and not taking care of my skin properly in the meantime), until this past year. I finally put forth true commitment to a regular, twice-daily skincare routine and focused on leaving my skin alone throughout the day.
Compared to twelve months ago, my texture has greatly improved and my acne flare-ups are minimal. In addition to what I noted above, I believe there are two key reasons for my corrected complexion: a cleaner diet, and quality skincare products. While diet affects everyone differently, I notice less breakouts when I reduce dairy products and focus on nutrient-dense meals. As far as products go, I put my money where my mouth is and invest in most of my daily necessities but still include fun, budget-friendly masks on occasion.

It’s important to note that you don’t have to break the piggy bank to find skincare that works for you. My stubborn skin happens to respond best to higher-quality ingredients, which often relates to a higher price tag.
